The mild easing of lockdown- allowing cross Scotallnd travel and 6 to meet outdoors – has brought us our first visitors here (to the garden) at Glen Rosa [yes, the house has a name].
Oddly enough I’ve actually been to the “Glen” Rosa, it’s on Arran (there may be others I suppose), and it was the location of my first camping adventure. That may be a story for another day, lets just say for now, it was wet.
Anticipating this day, we have been doing our best to smarten up our outside space, the better to entertain. Lovely wife has been diging out acres of weeds, and planting pots and trellisses (trelli? – surely that aught to be the word?). I have been fully engaged with my usual gamut of skills- moving heavy objects (“what’s in this pot!”) , securing high things (“I can reach it from here, I don’t need to move the step….”), drilling fixtures into brick (” that’s another bit broken!”).
In an idle moment I also decided to paint a mural on a garden wall that wasn’t being used.
I’m not really sure what prompted this, possibly to much “Vision On” or “Take Hart” at an impressionable age (Am I allowed to mention Rolf? – looks for leagl advice – finds none). There was ceratinly a strong element of “can ya tell what it is yet?” while I was splashing paint around (younger viewers should ask their parents) .
I am fairly sure that some of my, tallanted artistic, friends might still ask “what it is meant to be”. (I will post something when it is “done”, if anyone asks -lovely wife has already put pictures up ).
Co-incdentally I have also found myself involved in an online art project, messing around with tiny photographs, and trying to do with “Paint” and “Genericphotoeditor” what should rightly be done by highly paid & skilled graphic artists. But I do generally make this kind of rod for myself.
Anyway it has been an unusual week for me dabbling in the Visual arts, the important news is of course that the Blues band (perhaps “ensemble” might serve better at this time) can finally all meet up to jam/practice /reherse/accuse each other of having forgotten all arrangements. Of course this too must be “al fresco” , so if only someone had a large available garden and no (immediate) neighbours. I am now looking for 140 feet of extension cable and an, even approximately, flatish spot, for the drummer.
I will be great to be back together after such a long hiatus, all are agreed. As soon as possible. Right away.
“But not this weekend, it’s my wifes birthday” “And not next week it’s…..” “and I’m on call …” ” anyday exept the….” “Oh I’m back at work…”
I like French “Plus ca Change, Plus ca Meme Chose!”. It already feels like old times.
Next week on IaDL – Outdoor rehersal = rain?
