It’s a Dog’s Life 47

Unclean! Unclean! – rattles bell furiously.

Well we had a good run, but it was bound to come to an end eventually.

Double vaxed, masked, gloved, hand-sanned and anti-virally wiped down, but lovely wife came back Covid positive all the same.

After a days isolation till the PCR test results came in for confirmation, me and both boys are (currently) clear.

Now we must spend ten days practising the in out, mask on, wash hands again, as we all dance round trying to avoid becoming a complete family of casualties. Unfortunately the stats say (even with double vax) that we have about a 25% of contraction through sharing the same living space.

As I’ve observed before we have multiple rooms/floors/toilets and a lot of high ceilings as well as a big garden to be banished to. How anyone living , even in, say our old house (not tiny), is suppose to avoid their immediate partner/parent/child, is beyond me. But the guidance is;Nathan and I go to work, Ben goes to school (or would do but for COP26 -don’t get me started), which even with daily LFT testing, seems a bit of a risk for those around.

Luckily Chris is not suffering badly (touch wood) – far more annoyed than ill. And I suspect even if I become infectious the only real risk to me, will be a bad attack of cynicism (probably here on these pages). The boys are (theoretically) protected to a lesser degree by their youth , though both have only had one jab (bad timing).

It’s been easy to fall into the trap of thinking COVID19 is gone, and it seems many have let down their guard, or, as Chris indicates with some suspicion, their masks (Pointing at you – fellow Kilmarnock bus passengers!) . But, despite everything, it is still here, and fatality figures remain high.

It’s my way to make light, but it would be a lot less funny if one of family became seriously sick, or someone I work/socialise with came down, or passed the infection along, and I’m left wondering was it carelessness on my part?

Take care all, Death may not be out there stalking the streets, but he’s certainly still hiding round the corners.

Next Week on IaDL ; latest from the sick house.
