It’s a Dog’s Life 48

Well the good news, is that Chris has survived her 10 day isolation, and is fine.

The surprising news, is that I have survived her 10 day isolation, and am fine.

Life being what it is, I was fairly sure that I’d come back positive despite all precautions (a 25% chance even with double vax). This means that I will actually (touch wood) get to go on the weekend away, which has had to be rebooked five times over the last 2 years. We take turns organising , but I think I can reasonably claim I drew the short straw on this trip!

Of course the main downside of enforced isolation, was not (very thankfully), suffering through chronic symptoms and breathing difficulties, but the necessary reliance on “hopeless husband” for shopping choices.

Apparently even when it is the right brand, it can still be the wrong butter (” no the unsalted one!”) flour (“Wheatgerm not wholewheat”) brocolli (“did I even look at it before I put it in my basket?” {NO- it’s just brocolli} ) and my new eyes are obviously defective because the scrawl “org”, added to several shopping list entries, is seemingly invisible to me.

Happily this particular set of personal failings is now reduced to normal proportions, as, released from medical detention, my wife can celebrate with a spree of retail therapy, and a suspiciously large number of new pot plants have started appearing around the house.

Under the circumstances, a small price to pay for a good outcome.

Next week on IaDL – The trials of working nights (that non shiftworkers dont get)
