It’s early, I was really hoping today would be the “long lie in day” but a run of 5 o’clock rises for day shift seems to have set in as a pattern, Tomorrow when I do need to be up, I’m sure I’ll be sound…..
A vaguely weekly Dog’s life lets me digest and consider events. Daily however; do I diary in yesterday or forecast for today, or just wing it?
The window cleaner came, eventually (4pm – “about lunchtime”) so I am excused from my Blondin impresion (he was a tightrope walker since you ask, perhaps “the” tightrope walker – younger viewers may still need to google “tightrope walker”).
Instead some “test” holes are dug in the garden, and I establish that, yes, under the topsoil the ground is full of stones. This is better than the expected solid concrete, but very slow going, however I am given approval to continue and expand these test scrapes to a depth sufficient to plant trees. This is dutifully added to the list.
While on that point can I respond to the online wit, that “a good list” has very little to do with the angle that I, or my house, is leaning at, and I don’t drink that much anymore anyway.
I consider starting today with a trip to buy a pick axe, however as the ground is frosted and temperatures are very low, I suspect this can wait till later after some thawing. Instead I can enjoy myself by seeking replacenents for the garden light strings – none of which, (none!) have survived the winter still doing their solar thing. That will probably require several cups of coffee before I can start, then I can spend the afternoon singing “Hi Ho!” and the evening hurting in unexpected places.
