It’s a Dogs Life 86

That, would be what I meant by a “truckload” of timber. I freely concede that my use of the word “stacked” may be misrepresenting the degree of order, (although ,there is, in fact, some discrimination by size). Needless to say, as I have been absent all weekend, it remains untouched in situ- a veritable plank of Damocles…

Sadly, we were unable to locate either end….

The road trip furnished the usual diverse conversation, criticism of musical performance, the woes of aging and sleeping in tents, the medieval castles of the Rhineland, the actual location of the Black Dog Junction cut off (real place- needs a song!) and how poor the signage is (you have just missed Black Dog Junction – again! ….”In 70 miles do a U turn” says sat nav helpfully,)…

Demonstrating that we did finally arrive:

Jam in the Heart Craic and Vibe Juke bar

Some of the usual suspects at the Friday night jam session, in our host’s personal Bar space.

I was unexpectedly asked to open (testing the electrics and floor) and the capacity crowd were treated to a smattering of Lucky Dog numbers (I forgot my hat).

Due to a lack of technical foresight and cheapskateness, I cannot post any of the other artists. It seemed at the time that short video clips would better catch the event, however as a result of my “economy class” web page I can only post stills – “D’oh!”

Hippy Chris (I’m sorry man. I don’t know what name you perform under) wowed the crowd with his fantastic acoustic performance, and a little Washboard accompanyment. Our hosts gave their usual storming appearance as the Vizitors (oddly enough) – aka Ian and Evelyn. Some passing Blues ensemble blasted their way in the record books by opening with a new vocalist (well done Woody) and a never to be repeated version of the classic “Flip Flop Fast-Forward” (“I got a bit carried away”, explained our drummer). And the local boys “the Rockaholics” saw the event out and filled the dance floor till midnight.

Apart from a plague of wasps, the weekend was incident free….

Next week on IaDL – maybe somone else could send me some stills of the acts?

(Maybe I can learn how to take a still out of the vids)
