Another solar revolution almost complete, and by Friday I’ll be started on my sixtieth orbit. I was actually asked today what I might wish to do for the big 6-0 when it rolls round (if spared).
I’m tempted to suggest a world tour, ” Still not dead yet” (and other songs by LDW – you read it here first). On a more realistic level, the idea that I might do a s gig and try to guilt people into coming along, seems like a plan.
Of course having cunningly got married for my 50th (to encourage friends to come), folk may be wise to this dodge. In any event, the vastly more important celebration is therefore our attendant tenth wedding anniversary.
I note that “veteran” status does not come alone. Next month sees the third of my close friends to “ascend”, in 2024 there will be a veritable rush on six-oh cards. Maybe one big party? Or better yet, one year of party? I’m not sure I have the stamina (any more).
Finding suitable birthday gifts for all these 60 somethings (or even 59 somethings) is tricky. Generally people of a certain age have amassed the physical things they really need or want (maybe not the gold plated cadilac…). However I suspect that many, like me, will have found that what is desired is not usually availble in the shops.
A sit down dinner with my wife and sons; a glass raised in the company of close friends – Priceless.
Next week on IaDL : A guitar? what do you do with that again?
