Despite the incessant rain, Ben completed his 22 mile kiltwalk. Alone. Not that there were not hundreds (nae thousands) of other participants, but with neither mum nor dad able to join, and no pals in the event, I figure it would be much harder work to sustain resolve without someone to jolly you along, or at least commiserate in the wet.
Anyone who has ever walked any distance in a kilt, in the rain, will be aware that, fabulous garment though it may be, it just gets heavier and heavier with every step in the wet.
So well done son! About £400 raised to the goal. My thanks to all who have given.
If anyone would like to chip in a late donation the link should be here.
(This is a different link from before – explicitly for the walk, rather than the main project [Cambodia], however it all goes to the same pot, so thank you, wherever you donated.)
On the home front, my Diabetic clinic was delayed due to illness, of the clinic nurse, so they are now shoe-horning me in for an “urgent” appointment in a months time. I guess I just have to wait for the list of “do not…”
A work shift was lightened by an overheard exchange… “We’re picking you up at the memory clinic Mrs Smith?….Where is that again? ”
I thought it was funny. Though not as good as a ceratin historic exchange …
I had acquired a book on techniques of memory improvement, which I had later lent to Bob (of the famously poor memory). I later wished to reference some detail from the book, and on happening into him, asked if I could briefly check the memory book?
His immediate (and justly infamous) response ,”What memory book?”
Next week on IaDL : More work in the garden?
