10 bands to do 100 songs for 100 years, that’s the stated goal.
It’s been 100 years since “the old Dalmally Hoose” came into the ownership of Bert’s clan, and so they’re having a family celebration, with music, live music, live music played by a whole variety of acts. Apparently.
Astute readers will notice how this actually follows on from the previous IaDL (rehersal), on which note – it was not worth it, especially the bit where we (all 4) got locked outside, “the code doesn’t always work”, said a local helpfully. That, and the deceptive photo of the studio – my kitchen is (substantially) bigger than the space for 4-5. Play quietly you suggest? Try turning down the drummer, who incidentally occupies 4 of the 5 spaces…
We shan’t be rushing back, however rehersal is still needful, so we’re back to our prefered premises tonight. We can use the practise.
Those with long memories may recall that I was once in a band called the “Tone Pigs” (Briefly, “Lucky Dog and the Tone Pigs”), who had a strong association with Dalmally, we are sort of reforming (again) for one last (no really, last, last, final!) gig.
There is a slight overlap with the current Blues combo (the Revelators? , Bert and the Inadequates? The Blues Pigs? )but no-one will notice with the change in style. Of course I have been asked to do my inimitable “One Man Banned” if only to help fill out the line up.
So, that’s, say 30 songs. Now by good fortune we have at least two unrelated (actually that’s not quite true….) disassociated acts – Mr Ally Roberston, and the youthful, Sam Richard and friend(s). However, there are another 50 numbers to find, and ideally in different styles.
Americana (The Beach Pigs!), Country and Western (The Good O’le Piggies), Scottish Folk (The Run-Tones), Spanish Republican tribute {no -really!}(Los Cerdos Internacionale!), and a backing group for audience members who would like to step up to the mike (The Tone Brothers).
So I’ll barely be on stage.
Next week on IaDL : never mind next week, quick shout out to regular viewer Tam, who is in recovery from his X-man transformation, with an all new Adamantium….joint. Assuming he uses his powers for good, soon to be …. “Tambourine”, however, if he slides into the dark side (all too likely) – “the Hipster…”
