(Tokyo or bust…)
He flies from London tomorrow, but the Japan team are all staying at one location tonight, for ease of travel coordination.
A completely unreasonable amount of time was spent trying to find the “best” route to London, before being appraised that “the best” route will be train from Edinburgh, due to a certain girl, boarding the same train in Newcastle.
This justification immediately trumps any quibbles over ridiculously eary start, cost, or hazards of rush hour in Edinburgh, all of which were (eventually) overcome, to see him depart Waverly Station at 09:30 en route to Kings X and the first lap of his great adventure.
We waved him off from the platform, the glare of the low sun off the train windows made it very hard to see.
I shall perhaps be able to cross post some occasional update from the orient, but I fear Mum and Dad will be fairly low on the contact list for our eighteen year old Japanese correspondant.
The world is, after all, at his feet. I have to trust he can score a goal with it, – or at least pick it up and run! rather than tripping over it.
Thank you to all who have supported him, and made this trip possible.
(Blows nose theatrically).
Next week on IaDL: Wait, we have another son?
