It’s a Dog’s Life…

(Doing more in 24)

I’ve written before about the unsuitability of January for the hard resolutions.

I gave up (well, very seriously cut down) biscuits, sweets, and cakes back in September (thank you Diabetes diagnisis). I did my thousand press-ups in August. I will concede the large number of “very High days” at this time of year does tend to push the boundaries of my restricted drinking, although still as a mere teacup beside the cask of my past consumption.

However enough of self congratulation. January is an excellent time for the fun resolutions, looking ahead, and rubbing hands with glee and anticipation.

Really what could be better than a list for the year ahead…..

a plan for the year ahead…..

a list of plans!

Gazing down the corridor of time, I see celebrations – many; and while the relative proximity of my own ascension to veteran status, tends to obscure the events beyond, make no mistake, I am nae alone in my “big” birthday (another3? to follow in 24), each of which should be a fabulous gathering of near and dear, kith and kin.

Between birthdays we must sneak in a Burns supper, a Clubhouse gig (perhaps several), Killiefest-Too (you heard it here first). Surely overdue, a Gamers Dinner (you know who you are), some kind of barn building/garden party/BBQ as construction moves into phase 3 here at HQ. Assorted promised returns to points North with instruments. There will doubtless be corks popped for the return of our Japanese correspondant. At least one wedding that I know of, and the tiny question of our tenth (hooray!) anniversary. No ad-hoc events can be allowed untill ’25….

Some of us also still have to work, and write, and occasionally practise guitar, so I’m proposing an 104 week year…

May it be a full and exciting 24 for us all.

Next week on IaDL – No time to complain about anything, it’s just unsatisfactory.
