It’s a Dog’s Life…

(Konnichiwa!)

Flights are booked, and I am committed to one handy word or phrase a day, giving me a likely 60’ish word vocabulary with which to manage Japan. I (believe I ) already have my essential Japanese counting, for money only- it’s different counting for other things- apparently;- Itchy, Knee, Sun, Yawn, Go…

On the subject of numbers: In the last few days, it has frequently been pointed out to me that this(or that) will now be “the last one” of my fifties. While I could choose to wear my long suffering face, I suspect it would fool no-one, so instead I shall join in the spirit.

Yes, this will be the final Dog’s Life… of my fifties. When I next write I will have completed my sixtieth solar orbit, and doubtless begun the unstoppable spiral into ….into my next decade?

Since I have been fleeing the law of averages for many years, I alreday consider myself well ahead of the game, and less “living on borrowed time”, so much as “rubbing destinys face in my stolen years”.

I don’t really expect much to change; bus pass (if I only used the bus), discount at Iceland (if I only shopped there), greater licence to be the grumpy old man I aspire to?

Perhaps more importantly, inspiration to take a moment to look at the life I’ve lived, am living, and appreciate it , and my many precious people, a little more.

That, after all, is really why I’m, Lucky Dog.

Next week On IaDL My back hurts! My knee doesn’t work! Eh!?
