It’s a Dog’s Life…

(better?)

After several deeply unpleasant nights shifts, during which I also manage to infect Chris, we are (finally) both clear (two cheers!).

Fortunately, I go straight onto very long dayshifts, so I have no time to mope about feeling happy for myself. I do manage to clear some space in the garage on my “bit of a day off” between night and days, but then celebrate with a glass of wine and fall asleep on my feet.

Not to worry, I have a full 48 hours lined up, in which to prepare everything I should have been doing gradually for the last 3-4 weeks.

—Once , a long long time ago, when computer systems were young and primitive, and three separate back ups all failed, brother Bob and I (re-)did four months work in 72 hours to meet a deadline, while simultaneously figuring out why the back ups had failed. #

I can still hear Scotty saying “It canny be done in less than a month captain…but ye haveny got a month so…”

Chilli for 30-40 people, a outdoor kitchen, a waterproof stage, some kind of audience shelter (or, we live in hope – shade) meanwhile with my other hand…

Apparently I will also be playing some of the music? so I’ve heard.

There were many years of Dalmalyfest where, as opening act, my preparation time was “Tell Tony to stop what he’s doing and be on the stage in 5”, which was generally enough time to swap the spanner/hammer/ blowtorch for the guitar, but not to tune, or wipe my hands.

In a sense, the spirit of those days is still alive and well…

Next week on IaDL … It was so hot we had to send out for more ice again (wakes up)

# Bob and I did the impossible job, made the deadline, but we still went bust.
