You were supposed to get a collage of photo’s from the Gig in the Garden, along with pithy comments by me….and you will.
However, it turns out to be more time consuming than expected. Plus I have stored the surprisingly large number of images, in one big file, with helpful titles like IMG1234.567z, which tends to result in; “Bert playing the eleventh solo in Black Magic Woman” being the comment for a photo of flowering clematis.
I will get there.
Meantime I am freshly returned from a…a celebration of a life. If the number attending be the testament of the life lived, then it was a full one, with much love, which touched many.
And perhaps, when all is said and done, we can ask for nothing more.
My own acquaintance was shallow, so I attend rather, for the living, nearer and dearer, and stand with them, that those touched more closely by the loss, may know that, they do not stand alone, but with companionship surrounding.
I bring back only one lesson, that these days seems to present more frequently and in many guises. It is not a bleak lesson, but we often shy from it’s mortal implication:
Life is short.
Companionship surrounding, and celebration of life(s) should not only be for funerals.
I believe, that’s a faith we keep in our shared festivals and events.
Raise a glass, to Caroline.
