(Million steps)
I was in two minds whether to post today (day 0) or tomorrow (day1).
So I start on July 1st and have till Sept 30th to complete my 1,000,000 steps, raising funds for Diabetes Uk, and losing pounds for thinner Tony (Not “Slim Tony ” who is a New York gangster, or “Skinny Tony” who is a circus contortionist, nor even “lighter Tony” which would once have been correct, but only for a very different use of the word “lighter”).
This: https://step.diabetes.org.uk/fundraising/walk-the-dawg should take you to my just giving page
or this:

let me know if these fail for some reason.
I’ve set a very modest fuding target, which I hope to exceed, but as at least part of the point is doing this for myself, even if you don’t support the charity, feel free to send abuse or encouragement as suits.
As I noted before, 11000 steps daily should be a breeze for someone who works on their feet, even on a day off, two trips to the shops would be most of it – we regularly did 20,000 step days in Japan as tourists. The challenge is every day for 92 days, including the 10 hour desk bound day shifts with the two hour driving commute.
Just a word if you’re going to donate.
I may be 61 with a bad eye and a dodgey knee battling anemia and a stroke survivor, also overweight with blood pressure issues and technically type 2 diabetic, however I am also very stubborn, and expect to complete the million (or I will be very annoyed), so sponsor me per step, or ten steps, at your own risk.
Starting stats: I’ll update these weekly .
Steps so far : 0
GI: 7.2 (average across last 7 days)
For those wondering, ths is a measure of blood sugar which fluctuates quite a lot through the day: Under 7 is good(the goal), 5.? is “normal healthy”, 10 plus is diabetic, over 14 is “not very good at all” : (
Weight (kg) : 108.6
Next week on IaDL : flying start, or fell at the first hurdle?
