Clearly a bit less successful on a personal level with GI and weight both up (Boo!) however i’m still on track with steps even though I’ve lost a bit of my lead. I always expected my week of “long days” might be harder.
Things that make you go “?”
It has long been my contention that we already live in the “Far Side” (G. Larsen – the smoking cows… oh come on you must have seen some far side??).
Life is always stranger than you expect, sometimes it’s right under your nose. Like the other day driving through Paisley (a route I’ve taken many times). We were stopped at lights long enough to notice the lawers office advertising, ” Accident Claims! and Physiotherapy”.
It unclear whether this is offered as part of the same package, or is perhaps, a lucretive sideline for when the legal business is slack. It’s actually not far away (still in Paisley) from the Funeral Parlour which has a window display much like Blackpool illuminations.
Now I know there’s no rule, the don’t have to be dull and somber and three shades of Black just because they’re undertakers, but I always felt that a flashing window display (on all night) was just overdoing it a bit.
Of course I cannot see either of these establishments without being transported back in time. Bert and I are driving in a van, trying to find an, off-the-beaten-track purveyor of fireworks. Turns out its a farm, I remember high fences and static caravans and trailers (no actual building), but the sign by the gate, that’s always stayed with us both:
Romano and Sons: Fireworks, Gas bottles, Chickens.
I’m still waiting for the punchline, and I know it’s out there somewhere, probably in a Larsen cartoon.
Next week in IaDL : Dal-malyfest dal-malyfest, we come back every year! To stand, up-to, out necks in mud, and drink our weight in….Beeer!
