Traditional award acceptance speaches will not only include “Mum and Dad”, the producer, the make up artist, and the inspiring coach/director/therapist, but often ramble on and still manage to exclude someone important ( useless fact; the film “Gone with the Wind” which was a blockbuster in years of old, made a near clean sweep of the Oscars including a record acceptance by Olivia DeHavilland {best supporting Actress}, thanking 27 people, but neither she nor any of the other winners even mentioned the authoress…).
The more people you include, the greater risk you have of omitting someone, so, on the raising money front, I just like to thank everyone# who has donated, as I’ve now officially hit the target (with an additional unrecorded £25 that got donated elsewhere in error).
On the larger stage (as it were), we survived another Killie fest, demonstrating that if you have a big enough garden, and are stubborn (or stupid enough), you can recreate all the work of Dalamallyest in a smaller space. Hmmm.
Generally, when my wife gets a mention here, it is in the style: ” the lovely Chris”, however on this ocassion she deserves her full title of “most long suffereing wife-ever” for not only putting up with her crazy husbands ideas, but working unbelievably hard to make them happen, and she heads up the extenive list of “thank you’s” for making it possible to have our “Gig in the garden”.
In smaller type, a bit lower down, I have to thank all those who assisted to build and dismantle, those who cheered and ate, and indeed those who played! and Nathan (son 1) who undertook the uneviable task of manning the BBQ most of the day, and did a power of cleaning at night.
We did miss our historic cook, but I think he would not have been displeased.
Next week on IaDl : maybe even a photo…
