It’s a Dog’s Life

(2 days late and a dollar short)

I have not, infact, been drafted to serve in the Donbass, nor have I yet been the subject of a hack by Putin’s electronic hatchet men. No, just work, well work and a new car, well nightshift , new car , anniversary, and more work; equalls, scant minutes left in the day to share my ongoing trials and tribulations.

The new car goes from A to B, and pleasingly, B back to A which is most of what I ask. It is an automatic (Chris happy) and whether it can cope with a full size beer-barrel/band kit/group of gamers is yet to be determined. Also still to be determined is whether I am allowed to attempt to put anything as potentially dirty as those into the “new” car.

The old car (rest in pieces) was reputedly giving 40mpg while evaporating fumes from the tank at an alarming rate (go smoke over there). The new one claims to top at 31mpg but, having started with a long drive on a just filled tank, I can confirm it actually does around 45 mpg.

I should be pleased? I am pleased, right up to 55mph , where without fail, 2 warning lights come on to tell me ABS and traction control are “faulty”.

Extensive reading suggests that the most likely issue is the warning lights themselves, rather than any dangerous braking problem, but that’s only about 95%, with the other 5% representing a collection of undiagnosable horror stories. More than one owner suggests in all seriousness that the best solution is use a black sharpie to fill in the lights.

Is it under warranty? Is this particular issue covered? Will I have to drive back to Greenock and get the train (probably twice) to get it dealt with (100% ), will it get fixed there and then (I bet not)? How inconvenient will it be to be off the road for “a few days” ….

Next week on IaDL : Valentines, Anniversary, Mothers Day, Birthday, Easter, St Swithins day… could I not get just one really big bouquet?
