Here in Kilmarnock, as I suspect, in all provincial towns everywhere, no opportunity is missed to rebrand some callander event with a local twist.
As the traditionaly “spooky” festival of “all hallows eve” bears down on us, I have noticed signs for “Kil-oween”. I can only assume this will be 1000 times scarier?
Presumably we can look forward to Kilomas (1000 times more jolly), and Kilomany (1000 times more aloholic)?
Needless to say I am working nightshift on Spooky night (ever a joy). However in the spirit of at least “attempting to do something vaguely social” I(we) am preparing to host on an earlier night – in the garden – weather allowing.
It is unclear whether any amount of standing patio heaters, Chimineas (Chiminii? [I am immediately stuck with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke running in my head*]), and blazing firepits, will counteract the autumn chill sufficiently to tempt people outside, even with hat and mits, but I’m a sucker for a daft plan.
Even if it all goes horribly wrong, I’ll probably still get a story out of it, and there’s always the chance I’ll set myself on fire……
Another “celebration” also approaches, and I’ve held off mentioning it, but Dogs Life 100 will be along this year, and I feel it should have some “special” quality.
Of course between the various one off specials and the spell of daily Dogs, the actual 100th episode /broadcast/chapter has already been (and that’s even allowing for the odd missing number), but still, that’s two years of successful (?) disconnected rambling, and they sneakilly took the web page payment off me (again!) so you’ll probably get some more.
So I’m eliciting sugggestions for the 100th blog – Video? in rhyme? in Elvish… (Tam, I am not doing a video of rhyming elvish).
Answers – as ever – on a postcard (text/email…)
Next week on IaDL (huddling over a hot chocolate in freezing sleet) “Isn’t this fun…..”
* …chim chim cherree!
Not doing a video of rhyming elvish? Well, pity, that would indeed have been my 1st choice, (with a suitable “100” subject matter).
So, my suggestion/challenge is to do a LDW (poem or song) in the vein of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire”, not just for the inflammatory title you will undoubtedly come up with, but covering the 1st 100 “It’s a Dog’s Life” blog posts. (In Elvish WOULD be better, but not essential. Maybe in Klingon….????)
