It’s a Dog’s Life…

This is not the post you were, looking for. You can go about your business, move along…

My younger son (Ben), is proposing to take a gap year before university (possibly to give him time to decide). Inspired by a talk in school, he has signed up for Project Trust, which is a Scottish based foundation doing something equivalent to “Teaching English as a Foreign Language”, but with a working in/with the community aspect as well. At the moment it appears he will be going to Cambodia for about 9 months.

For him, it represents a great adventure, perhaps even, “the experience of a lifetime” that it advertises.

Be that as it may, he requires to raise some substantial funds to go. Some, hopefully most, of this may come through corporate sponsorship (any suggestions welcome) which – he assures us – have been diligently pursued (hmmmmmm). However he must also show willing on his own part and raise some funds directly.

Seemingly a father & son Kiltwalk is a fairly traditional fund raiser, and I would be glad to support him – while carping on endlessly about; age/weight/bad knees/nerve damage in my ankle and generally being out of condition to walk 22 miles [22MILES!].

Unhappily (depending on POV) he applied only recently, and mentioned it to me too late to join him (sold out) on the organised walk. C’est la marche!

Anyway, I had been expecting to ask for your sponsorship for me, as I hobbled forward in his company. Things being as they are, I would request instead, that you consider supporting Ben directly with a small donation.

Next week on IaDL : Another friend “ascends” to veteran status (has already, but the party is still to come…)
