It’s a Dog’s Life…

(not enough hours)

I’m sure there was a time when – if I got up early enough- or even not that early- I could squeeze more “goals ” into one day.

I can decide whether it’s me, the nature of the goals, or the speed that time fleets by at, that have changed.

Of course the dislocation of shifts , are certainly nobodies friend in this scenario.

(I might use that again “a dislocation of shifts” – bonus new collective noun!)

I feel that I (can) get less and less accomplished in a normal day. Even the idea of some gentle exercise in the morning along with local shopping, feels like it spills into afternoon and suddenly you’re rushed to try and (cook/paint/write or attempt fix the wonky handle on the upstairs cupboard door….) before tea time.

After tea time, that just completely evaporates into getting ready for the next day, and yawning. Early to bed, I’ll get a fresh start tomorrow…

Recently, a number of next generation “familly” weddings have taken place (not our own sons). In all cases we have been evening guests (as expected), however the “preparation window” appears to have become the entire day: Sort out flowers/gift, clothes, take cash -in case- sign card, have lunch, shower, change, run to corner shop for something trivial, have coffee (tired – flagging) change again as coffee now on that shirt, holy smoke why are we not already away….

We are home by maybe 1am, scarcely able to cope with the “late night”, which will certainly carry it’s price into the rest of this week.

Is it possible, this is… “old”?

Next week on IaDL: Something cheering and uplifting (4 lawyers drove over a cliff?)
