It’s a Dog’s Life…

(Return to Dalmally)

The annual Richard family party at “the Auld Cameron Place” approaches, and music will, as is traditional, be played.

Rumour has it that something approaching a permanent stage area is now in situ, a far cry from our ramshackle construction of pallets back the year dot.

” That doesn’t look very safe..”

” It’ll be fine.”

” Are you sure?”

“…Ok, we’ll put Tony on first and see if it holds up…”

I’m sure a drummer fell through one occasion, and there might have been a bouncing lead guitarist who nearly came to grief. However, by our third or fourth attempt, we had actually become quite good at stage construction, and a bit more cautious regarding health and safety. (Paranoid might be the better word).

The tradition of Lucky Dog on first “to test the stage” stuck, and I’ve opened more events than I can remember.

I’m not proud – if it gets me a slot, I’ll trade on my indestructible reputation, although these days, that may be the only part of me that remains indestructible.

However, I’m looking forward to hobbling out at Dalmally one more time, seemingly it’s a concrete floor, so it should be safe…ish

Next week on IaDL : Photos; Really! I do have photos!
